@hi Great phone, camera will do for normal holidaytrips, probably not for people who demand very much from their camera, although I guess 95% of iPhone-users won´t. battery life, more than a day, usually two, The version with /e/os is degoogled, no google-account necessary if you wouldn´t use google-services (payed apps, google pay), I came from iPhone, now FP6, installed /e/os myself.

@hi as much as it hurts to purchase Google hardware, I have found GrapheneOS on my Pixel 9 to be excellent, although I don't have a recent stock Android experience to compare it to. Only reason I went back to using my iPhone--aside from my wife being annoyed by the green texts--was that I needed a navigation app and the ones I'd tried on GrapheneOS weren't great. But I think CoMaps fixes that, and if worst came to worst I could just create a profile dedicated to Google Maps.

There was a time when I preferred my iPhone 14 Pro's portraits, too, but Apple has snuck enough changes in to the algorithms that control the Camera app that I now greatly prefer the images shot on even older iPhones and the Pixel 9.

(A switch to using it full-time again is ongoing; I am changing service providers and would rather make all these changes at once than have to switch my current service across devices, than move that device to a new service, etc.)

it seems like "grapheneos on a pixel" is the strongest choice right now.

as i read more reviews, i'm realizing just how much breaks when leaving the iphone ecosystem. apple has so many hooks in my setup... :(

...and it's time to rethink this setup
