@mntmn I have been fighting in my day job to reimport a step from and just leave it in place. I've marked this thread to see if your solution also solves my problem. Brain fried after a long week, so can't think clearly about this now.

But the problem is a common one, and I think when I looked for a solution people have been complaining about it for at least a decade. If only open source software could magically get developer funding that wouldn't expect ROI and ruin it.

This I share a floor protection/anti-slip foot for furniture with the common M6 thread.

Often, furniture comes with cheap plastic feet which neither protect the floor nor inhibit slip. If you are lucky enough that they are held by M6 screws, this might be your solution.

Photo of a darker wooden sofa leg on a light wooden floor. The sofa is tipped over so that the leg is close to parallel to the floor.

There is a custom 3D-printed anti-slip foot on the leg. It is made of transparent TPU, resulting in a milky-white look.

Photo of the parts on a window sill:

The main part has a screw hole that comes with a plug to protect the floor and increase the contact surface.

An M6 pan head screw with a flange and a hex wrench are used to attach the foot to the furniture.

Screenshot of the foot in FreeCAD. On a dark gray background:

The main part is bright red. It has a slightly conical shape (frustum).

The blue plug next to it is modeled to match the screw head in order to fill the screw hole. It is also slightly conical in order not to fall out of the main part when the furniture is lifted.

Of course I made my own filament clips.

As always, I share my @freecad file along with the printable files.

A bright red clip holds the end of the filament so that it does start tangling.

Photo of a cardboard filament spool. This is the same filament that was used to print the filament clips.

The clip on this spool is slightly differently to accommodate to the flat rim.

i've been using sketchup for years, but i only recently started learning ... and wow, it's so much closer to what i've always wanted from cad software. the learning curve seems steep, but i really want to learn it
