As an old unix guy, this blows my mind.

Been playing with the Acme editor from . Very much out of my comfort zone (vi-like editors) but so far I quite like it. My goal is to install on my old Thinkpad T430 and use it for writing in my bedroom once I've properly gotten to grips with the editor. Seems like a solid choice of OS for reducing distractions and I find a lot of the ideas behind really appealing.

General use daily driver is – and will remain – , of course.

              Further experimentation into #9front...

...I still feel like I landed on Mars, but I've just now (finally) managed to walk in a straight line for ten paces without landing on my face, so... XD

Yeah. ;) (text after hashtags to force clients to fully display them, because [hashtags are poetry], dadgummit! ;)

Screenshot of 9front running at 1024x768 from qemu

top left is a small (default) stats(8) window

Below that is an rc (terminal) window mostly obscured by the large Mothra(1) window that takes up the right 80% of the screen. The terminal window is showing part of the rc(1) manual page, and then a call to "ape/uname -a", which has returned "Plan9 cirno 4 0 amd" (the 64 in amd64 is cut off by the mothra window)

Below that is a small square paint window with a smiley face drawn on it

Below that is a small square clock (date(1)) window

On the right is a large Mothra(1) window showing https://rldane.space
The AVIF images from the top article ("Mocking-up Photo Sharing over SMS") don't show, but the PNG image from the next one ("I loved Computers Before the Internet was a Thing") does.

I plan to create a GB sized fake PDF torrent direcfotry made with 's bullshit(1) tool
among markov-chains generated bullshit on Gutenberg books (from Doyle to Twain)
and then embed it with ocrmypdf and then I will for sure set them file names
like CIA_scoop/Iran-Contra and the like. Doesn't love to scrap that?
                Well, let's help them.
